Well I need to write about our fantastic Christmas weekend but I'm tired and I don't think I could keep all of my thoughts straight. :) So I'll come back to xmas, promise!
I do think of my blog as something to reference back to about Cody and his journey. On Christmas eve his right bottom tooth (which has been loose) became extremely loose. I thought maybe that Santa and the tooth fairy would be coming on the same night. But.....Cody freaked out when he saw the blood and wouldn't let me near his mouth. So it has stayed. Last night, with a little brotherly help, the tooth got hit again and again more blood and it's so super loose. Just barley hanging on. He won't let me just pull it. He goes into hysterics and cries. He says things like "why do I have to loose my teeth". Forgive me but a part of me laughs cause it's a tooth and he will get an adult one, but then a part of me crumbles because he won't get an adult one for every tooth. And at the ripe age of almost 6, he has had a lot done on his mouth. Way more than most adults in a lifetime. So the tooth is still very very loose and still in his mouth. I am waiting for another "brotherly love contact" and it will be out.
Today thought he really got to me. He woke up the other morning with an itchy rash. This morning it was still present and after talking with my sister she convinced me to call the doctor. So after I got the appointment, I called home to tell Cody that I would be home to get him. What I got next I wasn't expecting. He told me he didn't want to go to the doctor, asked why he always had to go, why doesn't Dylan, how he wished Dylan was born first and not him and then Dylan would have to go, and then I faintly heard him say I wish Dylan was born with a cleft. OK.....that last one got me!!!!! Thankfully, I was at work and he quickly gave the phone to his dad. I really hope he doesn't think he has all of this because he was born first. What do I say to him? That god thought he was super special. While I agree - I question it at times. So friends...family....I'm puzzled....what have you said?

"Is Santa coming tonight"??????
That is the question I get asked nightly when tucking my 3 little boys into bed. No.......not tonight but very soon. My 3 are super excited for Christmas. They are trying to be as well behaved as possible - even though that is extremely hard at times. I'm trying to find those extra patients as well, that is hard at times too! But.....with a few late nights, a few longer than normal shopping trips, I am wrapped, menu is planned, food is bought, stocking stuff is ready, teacher gifts are delivered, xmas cards out and the Luckey house is ready for the big man in red to come! :)
Yesterday the boys all had their school parties. I am still trying to figure out how to be in two classrooms at the same time. I visited Dylan's class first and then went to Cody's. By the time I got back to Dylan's - they were done. Thankfully, Tyler's was in the afternoon and at a different school. Today is the last day before they break for Christmas. I am looking forward to having a week to myself and eating normal lunches. I am sure my mom is NOT looking forward to the week as she will have them all day!
Last weekend, we went to Cuba to have Christmas with the Luckey's. It is always crazy when everybody is home but so much fun. The kids have a blast playing together. We were 1 grandkid shy this year as baby Samuel is still in the hospital but with any luck he'll be home soon.
On our way home, we stopped at my Dad's to see what was in the workshop. For those that don't know, my Dad is awesome with wood and making things. I have many beautiful items in my house that he has made over the year. I really hoped some day he would do something for my boys. He is! They are all getting toy boxes. Not sure what I'm doing with 3 of them but trust me - I am sure we will have no problem filling them! :) They will have them forever and know that he put a lot of time and effort into them. I will post pictures when we get them.
Gearing up for the next few days. Not much planned for Xmas eve. Brett has to work which is a total bummer. They are letting them out 2 hours early but for Brett that is 9pm.....big deal. So I think we will decorate some cookies, bake some more and maybe do a good cleaning of the house so Santa has lots of room to leave his stash. Oh and I might need to pick up one more gift so I may have to hit the mall. yuck! Christmas day we are having everybody down for dinner at my house. This is a first and I'm looking forward to it. Brett will bake us lasagna and we'll have a nice Italian dinner. Saturday morning my brother comes home. I can not wait to get all 6 grandkids together. So much fun to be had over the weekend. Saturday we'll do gifts from my mom and to each other and then Sunday we plan to have a fun outside day at Tanya's. Shaun has been busy making his own ice rink. (that might be a little redneckish...but it will be fun)

Gearing up for the holiday....
I, like all of you, am super busy getting everything in order for the holiday. Shopping is about done. Just a couple last minute gifts to buy and then comes the task of wrapping. I've found that my nights aren't long enough for all that I want to accomplish before my eyes are ready to shut. It will get done though.....
We started a few new family traditions this year. I cherish my family traditions from when I was young. One being hanging our new ornament on the tree. I picked this up with my boys this year. Cody and Dylan both got a personalized ornament that symbolized the loss of their first tooth and the date that happened and Tyler got a personalized firetruck (which was the theme of his birthday this year). I also remember as a child hanging up our red stockings on Christmas eve. My mom had decorative ones that her mother had made that hung up after Thanksgiving until we got to hang the ones that Santa would fill. Well this year in the Luckey house we adopted an Elf for the season. It's the Elf on the Shelf. He arrived on the first day of December - the same day that the "elves" come to pick up the wrapping paper we have bought to take back to Santa for his wrapping. His job is to sit and observe the behavior of the kids and at night, when they are sleeping, he gains his magic and travels to the North Pole to tell Santa. It works! SORT OF! :) The kids know he leaves because when he comes back he is in a new spot. Every morning the boys have fun looking to see where "Snowball" is (you get to name your elf and that's what we chose). On occasion he is in the same spot - oops - that means Daddy Elf forgot to move him. :) At the request of the boys, we are starting a collection of Nutcrackers. We will get one per year and someday when they are older and coming home for Christmas it will be cool to look back on and "remember when". Our first nutcracker is a Chef. He has a white puffy hat on, a red apron, a pizza in one hand and a cutter in the other. Totally fits our life right now as pizza is the number one dinner choice (tied with McDonald's).
We had a nice holiday party at a co-workers house. My company has decided to not do a party this year - to the disappoint of all employees. I have a lot of thoughts on that but maybe shouldn't write them - they aren't nice and it's 'tis the season! :) I will be busy though with the 3 school parties - all on the same day! Thanks teachers.....LOL...Trying to keep it straight as to what I have to buy for whose party. Thank goodness for sticky notes.
In some ways I feel very much behind but I am sure I will catch up. We are going to the in-laws this coming weekend for our family Christmas. So I am missing a whole weekend - although it's worth it. I just might have some long nights ahead of me. Bedtime can't come soon enough.

Ortho Visit 12.08.09
Not the best picture (I forgot my camera so I used my camera phone) but this is Cody's bite as of today. And for most of you it doesn't look that good but trust me - this is. Before the appliance you couldn't see his top teeth as they sat behind the bottom ones. He is coming along great. Dr. D was very proud of his clean teeth and that he wore his special t-shirt. (They give a tshirt to all the kids wearing appliances and if you wear them you get a raffle ticket for a Target gift card). At first Dr. D tried to use some bonding material and glue the wire to the top teeth. But after he did it - it all came off. He is working with very little teeth. So instead he bent the wire and repositioned it. He still has one loose tooth on the bottom that we need to try and wiggle out of there. On the top the dead tooth is still holding on. He moved the wire from it as there is nothing to work against. He said he'll leave the tooth though as long as it doesn't cause him issues. So we will just watch it.
We don't have to go back for 6 weeks. Yeah! The weird thing is that is AFTER their birthday! UGH - they are turning 6 right around the corner. Crazy!

Holiday Catch-up
We had a really nice Thanksgiving. Had dinner at my mom's and got to enjoy her yummy turkey. I tried my hand at a couple peanut butter/chocolate pies and they were super yummy too. After dinner we did the normal, sat down with the sale ads to see what we "had to have". I did take one for "team shopping" early Thursday morning. After we woke up, Cody and I headed out to pick up the paper. I go no where without a shower and my hair/make-up done. I threw pants on and my coat, combed my hair, put a little eye liner on and we were off. I looked "fantastic"! LOL...but I got a paper and who cares. :)
I talked my mom and sister into embarking on our first Black Friday ever. We woke up early Friday morning - 4am and headed to Target. I was shocked at the line of people. I have never seen that out shopping. We entered the store that was jammed pack, no carts and headed in our own ways to get the deals we came to get. I have to say we succeeded. At about 6am, Tanya said we better find the check out line and so we did. We waited for over an hour. It was pure fun. You totally have to be a shopper to appreciate it all. An adrenalin rush is all I can think of. After all of that shopping, I had to work. I will totally take off next year. Once I got home I decided that I had to keep going. If I stopped I would crash. So instead we got out the tree and decorated.
Now the count down is on to Christmas. The boys have made list after list and want everything under the sun. Santa is figuring out what they really want. The goal is to finish shopping and decorating, do some baking and enjoy the holidays with family!

I'm thankful for:
I thought today would be the best day to think of some of the things I am thankful for. Since it's 2009, I'll pick 9 things, in random order of course. I asked the boys tonight as we sat down to dinner what they were thankful for and I got....
Tyler - "I'm thankful for my toys".....(what 4 year old wouldn't say that)
Dylan - "I'm thankful for my family"....(ah that is so sweet especially coming from the kid who told his father today that "you woke up in a good mood today")
Cody - "I'm thankful for all of my bakugan and my family"..... (glad the virtual world is before the real world)
Now "my" turn:
1. I am thankful for my family. I have an amazing husband who I have loved for a very long time, 14 years exactly and some might even say longer than that. I have 3 amazing little boys that have taught me so much in their short years on this earth. I have a wonderful mother who is my best friend and teaches me many wisdom's in life. I have the best sister that any person could ask for. She truly is my best friend and I would be lost without her. I have a very heroic brother who I think of every night before I go to bed to make sure he is safe at night as he protects and serves and I only wished I saw him more. My sister and brother have the best families who I love with all my heart. I have a pretty great Dad as well, even though our relationship has been tested over the past 5 years I have faith that I will gain back some of what was lost, or at least I will try. I also can't forget the "in-law" family that without them I wouldn't have my husband.
2. I am thankful for amazing doctors. I had an amazing doctor that helped us conceive the first time. Little did I know, I ended up with another amazing doctor who monitored me very closely and let me give birth to healthy twins. Just when I thought doctor's were done, I found that I would become super close to another set of amazing doctors in Syracuse at the CNY cleft and craniofacial center. Just after them we found an amazing dentist who is doing wonders.
3. I am thankful for another set of family - that is my craniofacial family. I have met the most amazing kids, amazing parents and at times this family might just take a step above my regular family. Some people think what we face with Cody is "fixed" and "done" but they couldn't be more wrong and this family "gets it" and has "been there, done that" and I know I can share anything with them. Thank you AmeriFace!!!!
4. I am thankful I have a great job and work with great people. I've been there for 8 years and in a way this group has also become family. I think I see them more than my own. Every job has the pluses and minus but we make the most of it and enjoy our day.
5. I am thankful for the things we have and what we don't. I really believe that all good things come to those that wait.
6. I am thankful for the Internet. Is that dumb? Without the Internet I couldn't type my thoughts to share with my kids later, I wouldn't be able to connect with old friends, I wouldn't be able to shop and search for items that my local store can't provide.
7. I am thankful for my health and the health of my family. I can take the occasional cold or flu, ear infection, even will take the thyroid problem of Cody and all that he has been through to know that for now, in the end all is OK. I however realize that that can change and I am watching an amazing women put up a great fight and her courage is something I hope one day I have if need be.
8. I am thankful for my friends. As you get older and lives change you do see who your true friends are as they have changed with you.

For being able to wake up in the morning, watching all the parades with my boys, cook up some pies and green bean casserole (my addition to dinner), load my family in the car and head to my Mom's house where we will sit down and have a great dinner. A little behind...
It seems I am a little behind in blogging. I have lots of good intentions to write and update what is new with us. Not so much for all of you that read and follow (thank you for wanting to follow) but for me to have to look back on and enjoy the memories.
Apparently we didn't get the cropped version of this email to us, I assure you the printed version did come out much better. However, I do need to complain a little about the price of these pictures. For one picture it cost $9. I think that is extremely high! Then to have it emailed to you - they wanted $3 more. CRAZY! I can't imagine how much they make off the holiday season. I do however like our Santa. He looks genuine but he is a hip santa as he was sporting a nice diamond stud in his ear. I am thinking he probably should of removed that for the kids sake but I guess mine didn't see it.
I left off about parent - teacher conferences. Still so happy that the boys continue to love school. On Friday, the 13th we received some sad news. Brett's grandma Luckey passed away. She was 95 and really did live a great life. She was a very sweet lady. I remember when I joined their family that she always had a warm hand to lend out to me and always a big hug and kiss each time we saw her. She reminded me so much of my own grandmother that I still miss every day. It was probably that they were a lot a like. Lived in the same small town, were both a farmer's wife, great cooks, made those forever home made items (growing up it was my dolls and clothes and such and Grandma Luckey made my boys each a baby blanket). We last had a nice visit with her over Labor Day when this picture was taken...
It now hangs on our wall and will be cherished forever. She will be missed but never forgotten.

But the time was right and we did beat the lines. So that was nice.

I really think we should get Thanksgiving done with first. I have fought the urge to put out any decorations. I haven't even done the outside lights yet. Although I should have as we have had some nice weather. But it's not Christmas without putting lights up in the cold and snow! :) The boys have been compiling their list for Santa and let me just tell you - Santa is still clueless as to what to get. They want "everything"! I just don't feel like they have that "one thing, got to have present" this year. You visit the toy isle with them and they want one of everything. Cody is pretty easy - he wants everything and anything Bakugan. And thankfully that is a popular item this year and shouldn't be to hard to find. Dylan, he wants an air hockey table, boxing gloves (rolling eyes, um NO) and Tyler....well Tyler has come out with that he wants "a boxing ring with bunnies inside".............NO CLUE what that this or where to find it. A boxing ring OK - but seriously I have no idea why he wants that. We don't even watch wrestling! So Santa has some thinking and searching to do.
Today is Connor's 3rd Birthday. So hard to believe he is 3 already. I still remember the day that Karly called me and told me that her mommy was going to have a baby. We all couldn't believe it. After the surprise of Tyler (as he wasn't planned) we never would of thought in a million years that Connor would of come along. So glad he did! He has a great personality and is very wise for his years. I do laugh as he does keep my sister hopping! :) He has a great love for the outdoors as he gets that from his Dad. Tyler and him are best buddies! Connor will do just about anything as long as Tyler has done it or is doing it with him. If Tanya wants him to do something all she has to say is "well Tyler wears big boy underwear" and POOF so does Connor. We call them our blanket boys as they still have a love for their blue blankets. Fleece material on one side and silk on the other. We get to celebrate with him tonight and then Saturday for his party.
Hard to think that Thanksgiving is in 2 days. I am really looking forward to my mom's turkey dinner. She does make the best and I think I should not eat for the next 2 days so I can be sure to hungry for everything. So that won't really happen but it's a thought! Cody had a "bread feast" as school yesterday. The kids made hats and all sat around and sang about 10 jingles of Turkey songs. It was very cute and then we got to feast on all sorts of different types of bread. For Cody this was like heaven (all he was missing was his chips)......he is my bread boy!

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Today was our very first parent-teacher conferences. They went fantastic. I kind of thought they would as if the boys were having any major problems I would of hoped the teachers would of thought to address that with me sooner. I have to say I do love both of their teachers this year and so far our start to Kindergarten has gone great.
I met with Mrs. Cluck first. She said Cody is an absolutely joy to have in her class. He is a sweet boy, well mannered, keeps her on her toes. He likes to get down to business and concentrates hard on his work. She said that if she does something different from the first day, Cody will remind her that that is not what she did yesterday. He can count to 49 (only needs to be able to do to 20) and can write numbers up to 10 (only has to do 0-5). She said he really likes to write in all Capital letters but can do lower case when reminded. She wrote he is well liked by everyone and is a happy boy!
Then I met with Mrs. Matyas. We could get write to the task at hand as Mrs. Cluck had already explained forms and such to me. She loves having Dylan in her class and says he is also very polite, well behaved and she tends to use him as her "model student" to remind the kids to do like Dylan. He didn't know his address either - so we will be working on that one. I know they know it - but we may need to re-enforce it. He is also meeting or exceeding grade level and there were no major issues. I was so happy to hear he is doing so great in school. He and I butt heads and he can give me major attitude but to hear he is that polite, courteous boy in school - I love to hear it.
So the day went great. I'm very thankful to have 2 great teachers this year and the boys are loving Kindergarten!!!

Meetings with our 2 favorite doctor's
Cody had a pretty busy day today. He got out of school at noon to ride to Syracuse to meet with his 2 favorite doctors. We saw Dr. Tatum first. It was a great visit. Cody is very fond of him and I really do love to see the patient/doctor relationship building. His ears are good. Tubes aren't in perfectly but are in enough to leave them alone. He has had this same set for 3 1/2 years now. He checked for the fistula but honestly said he couldn't see much of one. He said there is a small hole and asked if we were having any food out of the nose (no we aren't), any speech issues besides the slight slurring from the appliance (no) and said that we'll just leave well enough alone. No need to go digging for trouble! I couldn't agree more! We talked about a bone graft but he said right now it all depends on those adult teeth. He will leave that call up to Dr. Dillingham and when he says it's time - Dr. Tatum will do it. I trust them both that that is good enough for me.
So we left from seeing Dr. Tatum and had an hour to kill. Leave it to me to find a shopping center. We went and walked around Target. Found the card game Crazy 8's that the boys have a new found love of thanks to their cousin Karly. It is a cute game!
We got to Dr. Dillingham's a little early. Brushed his teeth and they were ready for us. No waiting today. I like that! Cody got the cheek guards in and pictures taken. I brought my camera along and got a shot myself. Here is Cody's bite 4 months after having the palate expander put on:

Pretty cool, huh? He can almost touch top to bottom. We need to push out the top front teeth to hopefully get his bottom ones behind his uppers. His top right tooth is about dead. Although it's not causing him any pain so we are leaving it for now. He moved the wires to help push the upper teeth and immediately Cody felt the pressure. He got his prizes, we go back in 4 weeks and we were out of there by 4:11......4 minutes before our regular scheduled visit. I was excited. I thought maybe we would get home early..................my luck ran out.
We pulled into McDonald's to get his special treat "chicken nugget happy meal" when he says, "mom, I don't want my food". What? What is wrong? He says he doesn't feel good. I looked back and saw the look..he was going to get sick. I threw him a plastic bag I had and he got sick in that. We ordered food and went and parked and he said he was OK. I left him another bag "just in case". I got down the road when he kept getting sick. Oh my heck....I am all by myself. I turn into a parking lot and get out - the bag broke and he was covered. Along with the car seat, seat and the floor. Wonderful! I have 2 napkins in my entire van. I look around and saw the lone Wiggles blanket - sorry blanket you're all I got. Thankfully I had an extra shirt for Cody, so he rode home in that and my coat around his legs. I will be better prepared next time and every other time. That was horrible as I needed to drive. Thankfully he just slept and was fine. I think he worked himself up so much and then the pressure from moving the wire that his stomach just couldn't take it. :(

"Mom, those are for babies"
Dylan says to me yesterday morning that he can't wear his underwear anymore because they hurt. So he is right, he's outgrown a few pair and I told him I would pick him up some new ones at Walmart that afternoon. I asked him what "kind" he would like? Spongebob, Star Wars, etc...you know the character kinds. The underwear that you bought them when they were potty training and you would say "now don't pee pee on Thomas". He informs me that "those are for babies" and he would like the "big boy kind". OMG...really....you are only 5 1/2....you have to have big boy underwear. Sniff, sniff.....they aren't babies anymore. So I bought big boy underwear and he loves it!

What is it??
Who cares!!! What every it "was" my boys got it and are finally getting over "it"! Yeah!!!! I took them both to the doctor yesterday. I tried sending Cody to school as he hadn't had a fever since Saturday AM but after an hour the nurse called and said he needed to come home. He was sneezing and she said "looked uncomfortable". Ok. I was calling the doctor anyway and when I finally got through - I decided to take them both just because I was going. Dylan had the fever all day on Sunday but by Monday it was touch and go. The doctor decided he probably had something viral and to just watch it. Happy to report as of today - he is fine! Appetite and attitude back! :) Cody I had sort of self diagnosed. You do get to know your kids. Whenever Cody gets a head cold - it turns into an infection. His nasal passage is so close that the germs just stay put. The doctor did say that at the on-set of the illness he probably had either the flu or H1N1..but they did not swab him for it. He had had his last fever 2 days from our visit with the doctor. So it would not of done any good. He had all the signs: headache, vomiting, cough, fever....the doctor did say that having the flu shot probably helped him along. Thank goodness! He agreed with a sinus infection and gave him amoixicillin and today he had a full dose. He is back to himself also.
Watch out teachers - they are all yours tomorrow! :)
My sister had her surgery. It lasted about 3 hours. She has a lot of internal stitches but only 3 marks on her stomach that only required a steri strip to close. She came home today but felt a little more worn down today. Her blood pressure was dropping - not exactly sure why. Possibly from the pain meds she was on. They switched her to Darvacet and that seemed better. Unfortunately, she had to come home with the catheter still in as she is not back to peeing a 100% yet. The doctor did tuck her bladder so he figured it was probably just a little more swollen than normal. She should get that out on Friday. Resting at home is so much better and I know Karly and Connor were excited to see her. Now, she needs to get better so I can have my shopping partner back! :)

Halloween festivites / sick kids
The Halloween festivities are all over. We had lots of fun this year with the boys being in school. Tyler had his party on Thursday. He wanted to take cupcakes so I baked em and Daddy frosted them. He had fun with his friends.
Thursday, Cody had ran a temp on and off all day. By the end of school, he came home and hit the couch. I was hoping it would end at that. It didn't! About 11:30, he woke up getting sick. Then again at 2am. No school for him on Friday which also meant he had to miss all of his school fun. He was so sad as he really was looking forward to wearing his costume. I'm a room mom in each class, so I went back to help out in Dylan's class. It was so fun to really meet some of the kids that he talks about all of the time. I over heard one kid ask him "is that your mom"......I remember always loving when my mom could come to school for events. Kids love that! As his party was winding down, Cody's class was just starting. Even though he wasn't there, I thought I would stop down and help. His teacher is so sweet and was shocked to see me. She said she missed him and was so sad he wasn't there. Me too! She rounded up some stuff for me to take home to him. I went back for the parade and got Dylan all ready. The kids looked awesome in their costumes. Brought back so many memories of my parade walking days. As I was standing in front of the van, Cody's teacher came by and was really hoping that I had brought Cody to watch. The kids wanted to stop and say Hi. I love his teacher!

So they waited as patiently as they could till it was time to go out trick or treating! The Smith's came down and my mom for pizza and then it was time! Costumes were put on and we were off. The got lots of candy and had fun. Brett and I just strolled together as they went from door to door. They have the routine down pat. Connor was a little slow and brought up the rear but he did great. When we thought it was time to stop, Karly, Tyler and Dylan didn't want to stop. So they kept walking while Connor and Cody went back home.
This morning Dylan woke up with a fever. It's been hoovering around 100 and he's been on the couch for most of the day. He's coughing and not eating. I know he doesn't feel good when he doesn't eat. He always eats! :) Tylenol seems to be working but only lasting 4 hours. Just waiting to see what day Tyler gets it. I know it's coming. :(
Today was also the last day of football games. Yeah! I get my husband back on the weekends now. We have missed him! And I must note that he got extremely lucky this year.....he did not have one game in the rain. It might have sprinkled but he never got soaked. Very lucky and probably won't happen again.
So what is up in the coming weeks. ..... Tanya has to have surgery tomorrow as she is getting a partial hysterectomy done. Gonna be a long recovery but hopefully it goes quick for her. Cody goes to Syracuse on the 9th for a meeting with Dr. Tatum and with Dr. Dillingham for an adjustment to the expander. Not sure why Dr. Tatum wants to see him so my nerves are already kicking in. Connor has his 3rd birthday and then there is Thanksgiving!!! Yum, Yum! I love turkey day. I love the food, especially my mom's turkey! And of course...the countdown is on till the big man comes!!!!

Wiggles Show
What a fun fun night we had. Kind of neat that it was just Tanya and I and our youngest. That doesn't happen often. We had decent seats for being FREE! The little boys aren't into having all that stuff to eat - so we walked out of there with $15 stuff Murray guitars and that was it. Not bad for a Wiggle concert. Especially when we took Cody and Dylan a few years ago we spent $50+ a piece on the tickets.
It was a great show. Great back drops...lots of acrobatics, not only from the Wiggly dancers but also the Wiggles themselves. And they are getting up there in age. They sang a variety of songs from all of their different DVD's so that was cool. Connor and Tyler had a blast! Tyler said his favorite was Fruit Salad and Connor loved Hot Potato and the drums. They rocked it out together on their guitars while Murray sang "Play your guitar with Murray".
Sam and Murray went around the audience and said Hello's and Sam came right up by us. He stopped by our seats and Tyler got a very personal Hello from Sam. That was very very cool. When Cody and Dylan went, Murray came up by us. I think it's great that they do that for the folks that are sitting up in the seats and not on the floor. Honestly, I was happy we didn't have floor seats. Kids were all over the place and it just looked like utter craziness. But the kids all do have a great time.

Toot.Toot.Chugga.Chugga...We are going to the Wiggles!!!
It all started a month or so ago when I found out the Wiggles were coming to our own back yard. Figures.....when the boys were 3 we took Cody and Dylan and drove to Albany to see the show. However, they have gotten older and have out grown them. Tyler never really got that into them. So I wasn't going to buy tickets to go. Then the radio stations started giving away tickets so Tanya and I would listen, call and get close but "no cigar".
Tonight, they were giving away the last sets of tickets. The catch was you had to go to the store, wait around for the hour and maybe your name would get called. So off to the store we went. Now as true fashion....with the last name of "luckey" that doesn't bring me any luck when it comes to winning stuff. It's a jinx and it goes the opposite way. They were giving away 2 pack of tickets when the second name called was "Tanya".....Yippee!!!!! Connor and her were going to the show! Then they called "Karly".....she was so excited! She wanted to win something so bad.
This next act just touches my heart deeply. She "gave" those tickets to Tyler and myself so Tyler could go as he has never been. She too went to the Wiggles show back many years ago, maybe she was 3ish. I love her. She has the biggest heart of any 8 year old I know. She is the best big cousin that my 3 boys could have. She talks about them to her friends and teachers like they are her brothers. They fight like siblings. I wouldn't have it any other way! She was the "1st" in our family and the only girl (lucky her) and cause I'm not having anymore and won't have a girl - she is my girl too! I must say she has a great head on her shoulders for being 8 and I can't wait to watch to her into a young women.

Pumpkin Carving '09
It's funny how far we have come with the pumpkin carving. First it's all Brett and I who create, cut and let's face it - just get excited. Ok, maybe just me...Brett humors me! :) Well this year, we supervised. The boys are old enough to do most of it themselves. I got smart last year and put down a plastic table cover on the table. I remember when I was young, we used paper bags from the grocery store. Well now you only get plastic or use recycled. I hate spending the money for the birthday parties on the decorated table covers but if you can re-use them then all the better. So, we lay that down....put all the guts and goo on it and clean up is a piece of cake! Brett cut off the lid and the boys went to town scooping the insides out. Then we drew the faces they asked for and they got the knife. Yes, 3 little boys with knives was pretty scary but they did a great job. They followed our lines and cut out the eyes and nose. After we drew out the mouths, they were "tired" so Brett and I cut 3 mouths. I think they did a great job!

Cody lost his first tooth
Yeah! Cody is so excited to have finally caught up to his brother. The tooth has been loose for a little bit but Cody was nervous to have it come out. He would work it a little with his tongue but that's it. So tonight, as I was telling the boys not to screw around cause somebody would get hurt.......two minutes later Cody comes crying with blood on his hands. After quick review, I told him his tooth was out. But "where" was the tooth??? Got a washcloth to help the bleeding, checked the clothes....then Dylan says "my sock got caught on his mouth"....(ah hah, so the sock did it)........checked the sock, no tooth. Cody was getting sad thinking the tooth fairy wouldn't come without a tooth. I told him we would write a note. We went back to the "scene of the crime" (the porch) and got on my hands and knees and I found it! It is safely under his pillow and waiting for the tooth fairy to arrive!!! :)

Caught off guard....
So today, I had a conversation with the grade-mom in charge of Cody's class room. She is the head person in charge of communicating amongst us volunteers for parties and such. (first experience with that too)....But as we were talking and because you don't have much inter-action with the parents as we did in pre-school, I asked her who her child was. She said "john". Oh Ok...I've heard Cody talk about him but that's it. She says to me "Who's Cody, what does he look like?"....
I'll be honest, I wanted to say "he's short"..........ha,ha,ha....but then thought "duh Kelly all the kids are short - they are in Kindergarten". I hate to admit I came out with "he has blondish/brown hair"...(Yah that must of narrowed it down for her)..............but I will be darned if I was going to say "He's the kid with scars on his lip". I almost told her that but then thought I will not/can not describe Cody to another parent of which I don't know and who doesn't know Cody that way. He is way more than those scars. I'm not used to describing my kids, either they are with me or people just know what they look like. So I have to come up with something. But she caught me way off guard! So go ahead....ask! "What does Cody look like"????

Maybe it's a Twin thing...
I have no idea where my two have come up with this but they have both said to me at different times and not around each other....
"Mom, I wonder what it would be like to be (the other one)"!!!
They have me puzzled. Does it mean something? Are they asking because they are away from each other during school hours and are doing the same type of things but obviously different due to teaching styles. I would hope that I am equal with them at home. We all go together and do the same things. I try and punish the same (yes the sweet boys do get in trouble). I have to say, I am puzzled by them saying it. I do answer the question with positive re-enforcement......but I'm still scratching my head. And they say it at weird times...like when we are eating dinner. So that doesn't give me any clues. I asked if they miss each other during the day and I get the annoyed look with a "NO". :)
For now I am just going to chalk it up to a "twin moment".

The things they say...
Some of the things my boys come up with just crack me up. Seriously they are the best entertainment ever! So last night as Brett and I were talking about the "football pool" that we enter at work.....Dylan comes over and says "we are going to win a football pool". We started to explain how it works when he said "you mean, we are going to get a pool that is shaped like a football".....................ha,ha,ha.........if it was just that easy.
Tonight as the boys were just super crazy. Not sure if they had to much sugar or what but Wow.... so Cody says he is wild because of the "fluid shot" they gave him. Brett and I looked at each other sort of puzzled when it clicked....the "fluid shot" is the "flu shot". He got that last week but whatever.
Tonight as the boys were just super crazy. Not sure if they had to much sugar or what but Wow.... so Cody says he is wild because of the "fluid shot" they gave him. Brett and I looked at each other sort of puzzled when it clicked....the "fluid shot" is the "flu shot". He got that last week but whatever.
Pumpkin/Apple picking
It seems I have gotten a few days behind in the blog. Maybe that's a good thing as there isn't much to report about. Just normal crazy life stuff that we all have day-to-day.
And I must say I love their shirts. It appears we have the entire team spoken for....Offense/Defense/and of course the little Captain!
To start our weekend off I was afraid that we would have a trip to Syracuse for the dentist. Thankfully that wasn't needed. As I was putting Cody to sleep Friday night, he says to me "mom, I think I have a potato chip caught in my appliance"......Ok, but he said he got it. Then he asks me what color are his teeth....."um, white"....so he hands me a little piece of something hard. I look at it and is trying to figure out what exactly is it....so yah, I had to put it between my teeth and bite for a quick second - yah, it's not a chip! It came from behind his top tooth, the one that has the nerve almost showing. It isn't bothering him at all and I have the piece saved so hopefully we keep our normal appointment and we'll see what Dr. Scott has to say about it.
Saturday we had another fun day of soccer. Next Sat. is our last day. After that we had high hopes of going to get our pumpkins but this darn NY weather was not going to allow that. It had misted and was so cool out most of the day. Instead we did other stuff and had dinner at my sister's.
Sunday we got to go to the apple farm. We had a lot of fun. It was still cool but when that sun came out it was nice. The kids picked lots and lots of apples. Went on a hayride, enjoyed the petting zoo, found their "great" pumpkin and had some good treats too!

Tyler's post op
Tyler had his post-op appointment today. Brett took him as I got afternoon duty with running them around for appointments. All is great. His tubes look great. Brett got to look at them and said they are green. His frenulum is healing nicely and basically that was it. The appointment was at 8am and Brett was calling me at 8:20. So it was quick. He goes back in 6 months for a re-check and a hearing test.
To finish our afternoon the boys got their flu shots. They were real troopers. Tyler wanted to go first. He cried a second and that scared his brothers. Dylan went and did great. Cody went last and that probably wasn't so good. His anxiety kicked in over-drive. I am hoping that the flu bug will stay away from our house this year.
With these 2 appointments today also wraps up our month of doctor visits. Awesome, huh? It's only the 6th and we are done. I for one and am very excited about that. September was a hellish month of running to this appointment and that appointment. UGH!

Surgery Pics

Tyler's surgery
Tyler made out very well with his 3rd surgery. He had new tubes placed, his frenulum cut and they scoped out his adenoids to check for re-growth. Our day started at 8am. He was happy-go-lucky walking into the hospital sporting his new fireman pj's and his new moose. Got to his room, the tv to himself and he was good. He weighed in at 40lbs and is 3ft.2" tall. I told him it was time to change into the gown and he wasn't interested. But he did it eventually and he looked cute might I add. As it got closer to his time they came in with his "happy juice" and OMG was he funny. By the time he went into surgery he looked like he had just came out of the bar. He was giving everybody 'the eyebrow' and it was hysterical. The doctor commented on it in our talk.
Dr. King removed his old tubes that had fallen out and replaced them with long term tubes. These should stay in for a couple of years and serve there purpose with the fluid. He had a lot of fluid. So much so that it had started to turn into a glue like substance and compress the ear drum. He had his adenoids scoped for re-growth. There was some that had grown back so that was removed. He also had his frenulum cut (piece of skin from the lip to the gums). Tyler's was very pronounced and has caused a nice space in his front teeth. This should allow his adult teeth to come in with nice spacing. He has his follow up on the 6th and a hearing test down the road.

Ortho Update
Cody and I ventured to Syracuse for another ortho check-up. Dr. Scott was very proud of his clean teeth and the fact that he worse his special t-shirt so he got 2 more raffle tickets and got to pick a prize from the "big" prize table. So that was a big deal!!!!
The appliance is doing it's job. He said he can almost clench down and hit teeth to teeth. Yeah. But...with good there is bad and we have a few issues to watch. His top right tooth has been worn down so much from the cross bite that he is now exposing nerve. I don't think a lot of nerve as Cody has not complained and I imagine he would. However, we had our last visit 4 weeks ago so all of this stuff has happened in that amount of time. So we need to watch it unless I call and say we have an issue. If the nerve becomes more exposed then they will need to pull it. He took a few new x-rays to send to Dr. Tatum. It appears that he is missing 2 top adult teeth. I was hoping for only one - at the site of the cleft where his gum was split as a baby. But both adult teeth - one on either side of his front teeth is missing. So down the road we will be talking options for adult teeth. Implants, teeth on a retainer, moving back teeth forward and re-shaping......
Then the most hard to swallow news was that he has a fistula. For those outside the craniofacial world - that is an opening in the palate. Right now his is like a pin-hole size. It's not huge as I could only see it as his head was tilted back with a bright light shining on it. Dr. Scott sprayed some air up there and it really bothered Cody as it was going right into his nasal cavity and tickled horribly. I was extremely sad to hear that news. We need to watch it to see if it gets bigger. Of course with the hole comes the possibility of speech issues and food/drink coming out of his nose. So we wait and see what we are up for.
I hate to admit it but I did have my little pity party in the car for like 5 minutes. I'm entitled right? I think so. I hate that at the age of 5 we have to think about "adult" teeth and the lack of them. I hate that his palate is opening back up. We've been so lucky that ours hasn't. I know that there are many kids that do and are much bigger - but this is my child, our situation and I only know that. Not to mention I am taking Tyler to the hospital tomorrow for another surgery and it just plain ole sucks! We see Dr. Scott back in 6 weeks.
A very funny story though.............as Dr. Scott had Cody in his chair he asked Cody how old he was? Cody said 5. Dr. Scott said "when will you turn 6"? Cody replied "on my next birthday"!!! We all laughed. Dr. Scott realized he walked into that.

ENT / Random Update
I took Tyler this afternoon for his last check-up before surgery. All looks good and we are set to go. There is still a lot of fluid on the right ear and the tube is out in the left ear although no visible fluid. So he will get long term tubes put in as this is his 3rd set, they will explore his adenoids for any re-growth and will cut the piece of skin coming from his upper lip to his top gum. Surgery is set for this coming Tuesday at 9:30...which kind of sucks as he can't eat or drink after midnight. He's my first kido to have surgery at this age - where we have to hand him over and walk away. My anxiety is already starting to kick in.
The boys are loving school - all 3 of them. Cody and Dylan are so challenged and are doing great. Writing their names and getting better and better. They did this in pre-school but you can see their "growth" in K. They are in the 100 book challenge and it should be a challenge to complete. Their goal is 100 books a semester. They bring home 4 books A NIGHT! So in my house that's 8. Right now the books appear to be very simple, ex: "Look at the Lizard, Look at the eye"....basic sight word sentence. So the books are super short. At this length, 8 books isn't a problem...if they get longer it will. Then the teachers want them to write the titles themselves....not mom's hand writing and if they kids can't get it we are to dot it out. At first I said "dot this".....I do this alone at night as Brett works. I work and am not home before 5. There is a lot to get down in a couple hours. But we will give it our all and make the best of it.
I thought about rather to blog this but it's just one of those things that I have to write. Cody might not be happy with me in 12 years but he'll get over it. :) So last night as I was getting them into the shower..he gets undressed and notices something black. He yells "mom I have something black on my leg"...now we are talking it's higher up on his thigh. So I yell back "what is it".........to which he says "MOM, I think I'm growing hair"......................O.M.G...................I lost it! How could you not. I assured him it wasn't hair but rather fuzz...Sure enough it came off in the shower. Phew!

We've got some clean teeth.....
Today was our 6 month cleaning for the boys. Cody got to go first. He had a couple x-rays done and then the normal cleaning. The dentist was very impressed with the palate expander. He has 2 loose teeth (bottom). Not much else really to report with him as he is seen monthly now by the orthodontist. Dylan went in next. He to had a couple x-rays taken and his normal cleaning. He has already lost his bottom 2 teeth and adult teeth are already in place. The teeth on each side of the front ones are loose. She said mostly because his bottom teeth are bigger and are crowding them. She noted that Dylan has an over bite (sigh, as Cody had an under bite). His 6 year molars on bottom are coming in. She said that at our next cleaning in April, they will take a panoramic xray and possibly refer us to an ortho. (double sigh). Really, 2 kids needing Ortho - dental insurance sucks! UGH! Not stressing yet - we'll cross that bridge when it comes. Tyler was last. He to got x-rays but then she found he didn't need them so he got to bring them home. He thought that was pretty cool. He got his teeth cleaned. He has a pice of skin that runs from his lip to his teeth cause a gap in them. Our ENT is going to cut this but I wanted to make sure the dentist thought it was necessary. It is! She said that if we don't get it cut now, his adult teeth will just bounce off from it and he'll have the same gap.
I was very happy though that we have stayed CAVITY FREE!!!! Yeah! They are good brushers - with a little push from mom!

Random Recent Pics
Tyler and Connor on the boys first day of soccer. Unfortunately, the season ended the day it started. The coach didn't show and come to find out ended up having surgery and is out for 4-6 weeks. He thought somebody might take over the league but so far we haven't heard. The boys are very bummed but looking forward to playing Basketball next month. 
My Cody Man.....He loves school - he has done fantastic with his appliance. I can see progress with his teeth already. And he super happy that he has a loose tooth. Tooth Fairy will be visiting sooner than later. He already knows what he wants to buy....a new Bakugan! 
Ahhh...Dylan......I mean look at this face. He is such my teddy bear. One minute he is so rough and gruff and the next minute he is a big cuddle bug. He loves school too. His teacher said he is a great joy in the classroom. 
My Mom turned 59......doesn't she look great? I think so...she is great. We would be so lost without her. Of course as we celebrated her bday we were missing 1.....baby Jack. I only wish they were closer and our kids could grow up with him like my 3 can with Tanya's 2. Long distance sucks! 
My 3 little soccer men! Yah, we don't own a "soccer" tshirt. Surprisingly sirens didn't go off when I bought soccer balls and shin guards. Of course I'm kidding. We just aren't a soccer family but if it ever turns out one of them want to play - we will become one! Anything for your kids right? 
My little Ty Ty's first day of pre-school. Isn't he cute??? He is back with the same teacher and a lot of the same friends this year. He loves it. You can't see his backpack but he has a really cool Batman backpack. Batman is his new favorite - just wait Halloween is coming and you'll see. I also love this picture of him and Brett.

Happy Birthday Mom
Today is my mom's birthday....her last birthday in her 5o's. Next year she turns the big 6-0. We celebrated yesterday with her. The boys helped make a cake...and they helped taste it (before it had frosting on it) and without me knowing about it. Thankfully the frosting covered it up. We all chipped in and got her a nice digital camera. I'll call her Ms. Digital! She honestly is the farthest thing from it. Her camera experience should be great and no doubt will cause us to have a couple laughs. :)
Kindergarten and pre-school are going great. The boys all love school. Especially Cody and Dylan who are so excited to be doing new things every day. They keep the kids busy. No naps for them. They come home very tired but look forward to the next day with excitement. Tyler is enjoying his year back with his class. Not all the kids came back but a few of his "favorites" and he is loving it. Last year was a more "coming out of his shell" type of year and this year he seems to get more out of it.
I've seem to take on another job....it's called Mom's Bus! On my lunch hour, I go and pick Tyler up and then head to another school to pick up C&D. I pull up in front of the house, honk my horn, my mom comes out and the boys unbuckle and out they go. It makes for a busy hour and one that is fine as long as there is no snow on the ground. The weather should make it interesting.
This week we only have one appointment and that is the dentist for a cleaning. Should go smoothly as they have all had this done before. Cody is excited to show that he has a loose tooth. He can't wait for the tooth fairy to come. Dylan has lost 2 so it's time for Cody to catch up.
We had signed the boys up for Soccer that was starting on Sat. We got to the indoor field, gathered with all the parents and waited. The coach never showed. Left kind of dis-appointed and figured something good must of happened. Well, I guess he had to have surgery on a disk and is out 4-6 weeks. So he's not coaching soccer and he's not sure if somebody else is going to pick up his spot. So kind of disappointed and frustrating as I spent money on balls and shin guards to only wear them for a 1/2 hour. Most all other leagues have started and since my boys have never played soccer before it might be hard to get on a team now. So we'll sit it out most likely. Which is a "smirky face" kind of way is fine as we know NOTHING about soccer and would love to see them play football! :) Everybody that knows my husband knows where I am going with that!
This past week also brought some bad news to our extended family. Brett's sister has been diagnosed with another brain tumor. She had one 6 years ago that they operated on and she had done well with recovery. However, the ugly thing reared it's head and she had surgery end of May. At that time though, she found out she was pregnant and could not undergo chemo and radiation. Unfortunately, the tumor grew back and we wait till the baby can be born for her to have surgery and treatment. Any and all prayers are needed for her.

1st day of Kindergarten
A very cool day to start Kindergarten - 9/9/09....probably won't ever forget that date. The boys loved it. They came home with great stories. Dylan had art class today. Cody's class stayed in and read a story and got to draw. They ate lunch but not together. Not sure if they get a choice of where to sit or not. I guess Cody's class didn't get to go outside for recess as a boy in his class punched a girl. Oh boy! We should have a great year. Tomorrow comes the real test as we go at normal time 7:50 - 2:40....and I begin my new job of MOM TAXI.
To make our day more interesting....I also had scheduled Cody to have a endo doctor visit. Blood work came back good. His TSH level is holding steady from what it was in February. Dr. Wu said that he'll see him back in May '10. He said right now he's on been on Levoxyl for 10 months and he isn't ready to take him off the meds yet. From what he said, it could be a couple years of meds and only if the blood work stays consistent and we don't need to increase meds will he get to come off the medication. So we wait..... Cody was hoping to hear he wouldn't have to take the pill anymore.
Ending out our first day of school day - we met Brett at a pizza shop for some yummy pizza to celebrate!
To make our day more interesting....I also had scheduled Cody to have a endo doctor visit. Blood work came back good. His TSH level is holding steady from what it was in February. Dr. Wu said that he'll see him back in May '10. He said right now he's on been on Levoxyl for 10 months and he isn't ready to take him off the meds yet. From what he said, it could be a couple years of meds and only if the blood work stays consistent and we don't need to increase meds will he get to come off the medication. So we wait..... Cody was hoping to hear he wouldn't have to take the pill anymore.
Ending out our first day of school day - we met Brett at a pizza shop for some yummy pizza to celebrate!

Brett and his Grandma Luckey. Bless her heart she doesn't know who many people are. Or if and when she recognizes you she remembers you from when you were much smaller. So just before this picture I was helping each boy get a piece of cake. First up was Tyler and I told her that this was Brett's youngest. She commented that he looked just like Brett. Then was Dylan's turn and she said the same thing except this time she specifically commented on Dylan's eyes and how they are just like his daddy's. Cody was last and she said he also looked like Brett and that's when I just couldn't believe her anymore. He looks nothing like him - but she did say that he has very soft and warm hands like his Dad. It was so great to see her and to get a picture like this. Not sure how much longer we will have her with us. But this picture we will be able to cherish forever!
Cody on his first day of Kindergarten. He got to his class, hung up his bookbag and was off. I had to find him in the sea of parents and he showed me this section. It's right in front of the board and is their "meeting" room.
Dylan picked out a great cubby and his name tag was waiting for him. He was excited to get it on, humored his mom for a picture and then was off to sit and draw at the table. 
Their smiles really do say it all. They were very excited to leave this morning. And at the end of the day - they had a great day!

Tyler's ENT visit
Well it's been a little bit since I last posted. Our summer is coming to a close. Right around the corner is the first day of school, long weekends of football games, a couple family birthdays (my mom and Brett), some pretty important doctor's visits for Cody and Tyler and of course now SURGERY.......
Tyler went to the ENT for his check up mid June. She noticed fluid on the right ear and told me to watch it. Call her if there were any infections, have the ped. check it at his check-up and to see her in Sept. Pediatrician checked the ear in July and there was still fluid. Just shy of our Sept. visit, he started complaining of ear pain. So we moved the appointment up and they found the fluid to still be there. She put him on Amoxicillan, gave him nasonex and said we better get a surgery date.
Today we had our appointment with the surgeon. He believes that because the fluid in the right ear has been there for a few months now it's time for another set of tubes. He said normally kids don't need another set especially after having their tonsils and adenoids out. The left ear looks OK but he would check it out better later. He thinks it's best to put long term tubes in. The thing with these is they don't "fall out" they would need to be removed - so another surgery down the road. These are the same type of tube that Cody has. Tyler has also been clearing his throat - a lot! So much that I didn't notice it at first - I think I had become used to it. Or I just didn't want to make it be something. My sister noticed it and said something and that's when I really stayed tuned into it all. The doctor thinks that possibly there could be some adenoid re-growth but he's not sure if it's enough that needs attention. But that too will get checked out during surgery. And lastly during surgery, they will cut the piece of skin that runs from his gum to his teeth. We all have this - Tyler's is just more prominent and our dentist believes it will cause a gap in the front teeth. So he will cut that and we shouldn't have any problems. Surgery is scheduled for 9/29.

I seem to have fallen off the band wagon on blogging. I need to get better. We are heading to the in-laws for the long holiday weekend. Well after football games tomorrow. September tis the season for football! Cody and Dylan start Kindergarten on the 9th. They are both extremely happy about going. Not sure if they will be happy when I wake them up at 7am but they are looking forward to going. Cody has an appointment with Dr. Wu that same day. Hoping for good results from the blood work and that he can stop taking his thyroid medication. Tyler starts pre-school on the 11th. Same teacher/same school/same set of kids - so it should be an easy transition back. Brett is going to be picking up a part-time job if you will. My company is trying to get a huge project out the door and to Kaiser - we have manufactured this huge Robot system for filling prescriptions. So, with that we have all been pulling double shifts and more help is needed. So Brett is going to work in the AM to help us all out. My mom and Brett celebrate birthdays this month. And to end out our busy month of September, Cody has another follow up with his palate expander. Which is going great. Then Tyler's surgery. Check back often as I'll have lost of updating post to the above!!!

1st day of Kindergarten Camp!
Today was the first day of Kindergarten camp. We got to meet the teachers, see the classroom, meet some friends and just help ease them into the whole idea of Kindergarten. They did great. I was kind of curious how I would decide on who to go with. So I asked them, Cody wanted to go with Brett so I went with Dylan. Dylan has Mrs. Matyas. As I left him at the table coloring, he had a little tear in his eye but there was no way he was letting it go. I got down the hall to Cody's room (Mrs. Cluck's) and saw Brett talking with the teacher. I peaked around him and Cody's face was as red as can be. So I held back my own tears and we chatted with the teacher a minute. I explained he was a twin and that this is his first time away. That seemed to put things in perspective for her. So we left and Cody did fine. Brett picked them up at the playground and they were having fun. They have talked about it all night and look forward to going back tomorrow. Now my thoughts......standing in that hall way with them I couldn't help but flash back to the day they were born. These little 5lb babies with big eyes just starring up at us for us to guide into the little men they have become. I remember back to Dylan's baby days and his crying and his reflux and thinking those nights of "jiggling" would never end. Back to Cody's early days and wondering what his future even held for him. Would he even go to the same school as Dylan? (may seem like a dumb thought to some, but those that have walked my shoes know where I am coming from....I didn't know anything about his birth defect)......then I watch the two of them grow up. Watch them sit up together, crawl together, stand up at toys together, took those first steps together....brother's through and through. Yes they fight and now that they talk probably have said some things to each other but really have never been apart. They have during Cody's surgeries and Dylan has been caring and wondered when his brother was coming home. I remember how Cody healed from his palate surgery so much faster after he got home to his brother. So to have them stand in that hallway and know that in seconds they are about to embark on a new path - a separate path from each other was sad, exciting, proud, emotional.....all sorts of emotions wrapped into one. Yes they will still be brothers, yes they will still fight and nothing will change at home.....but during the day they will go to their own class, meet some new friends, be taught similar things just in a different way. I know they will do great. Yes I'll probably cry one more time on the first day of school but after that.....who'll have time!!!! I'll be super busy keeping up with 2 little boys in Kindergarten! YIPPEE!!!!!

Swimming fun..
Over the weekend we headed back to Cuba for a graduation party of Brendan's. Thankful our weather was super nice and we all got to enjoy the pool. We had a nice party and Brendan was very surprised. He is off to college already. At times I think he has been this age forever but on his gift table was a hand print mold. It was so cute as it was little and I was curious how old he was. He was 5ish and in pre-school and it was 1995. OMG, your kidding right cause that was the same year Brett and I started dating. Made me feel very old that he is now old enough to go off to college. We all have these moments, and some have them about me (that I'm old enough to have kids) but wow - this was my moment. It was also very nice that Grandma Luckey could come for the party. She is 96 (I think) and bless her heart doesn't know who you are but we could never forget her. She reminds me so much of my own Grandma, her size, her demeanor, her love for the outside.
All that warm weather gave us a great opportunity to enjoy the pool. It was wonderful. Sunday we all got in and relaxed. All 3 of the boys came even farther out of their shells and did some first. Cody and Dylan both took off their arm floats and were swimming away. I was so shocked and so proud of them. They quickly jumped in and realized they sink right down to the bottom but if they used their feet - up they came. Then finally, I got Tyler to take off his batman ring and just swam with his arm floats. He was amazed he didn't sink. I told him he wouldn't but he needed to build up the courage himself. After all that sun, they all crashed!
Countdown is on to the start of school. Waiting very patiently to get our teacher assignment. (And I'm using the word patient very loosley) :) Next week they have Kinder-Camp for 3 days. Very anxious to see how that will go. I get teared up thinking about it all.
