Catching up from the weekend....

This past weekend seem to be a busy one. However, I am finding that most all of our weekends are busy. Friday night we got to celebrate with my sister as she turned another year older. We had a great fish dinner/yummy cake and presents. 41 doesn't look bad on her at all! :) (She'll be so happy I shared that)

Saturday we woke up to a decent day and promised the kids an egg hunt. We've gone to this hunt just about every year and it's a lot of fun. Although, this year Karly was too old to participate she still managed to "help" her cousins and get a couple eggs for herself. They separated the kids by age group and even though Connor and Tyler weren't supposed to be together - Connor came over and hunted with his buddy! Heck, looking at the two of them you would have no idea who is older and who is younger. My kids were cursed with the short stick!

After the hunt, we headed to the mall for our yearly photo with the bunny. If I hadn't have started this tradition with them when they were babies we wouldn't have done it. $9.00 is the going rate for a picture with the bunny and it's crazy! He's more than Santa. AND that's just for 1 picture. But I guess my boys will soon enough grow out of this so we do it and I love to line the pictures up on my shelf to see them grow every year.

We are heading to Cuba for the Easter holiday. Looking forward to a baby shower I get to go to and a yummy dinner and just good/fun company. The weather is looking wonderful so that will certainly help and allow the boys to get outside and be boys, get dirty, go to the barn...oh who am I kidding.......I won't like the "getting dirty" part....that requires more work for me!

A Busy Weekend

We had such a busy yet wonderful weekend. Woke up to the sun shinning and temps that reached into the 50's. It was still cool outside but that sun felt so great. So we all put on our "green" and headed out to the St. Patrick's Day parade. The streets were packed. By the time the parade finally reached us there was no longer standing room. Heck, people were standing in the road. The motorcycle cops kept driving up and down the street pushing people back. At times you wondered how the firetrucks made their way down. AND seriously...why on earth do people bring their dogs to a parade? Do dogs enjoy parades? Cause the dogs I saw acted as if they could just break away from their owners (who were doing everything in their power to control them) they would have a great snack eating another dog. So many people and you have to worry and look everytime a dog barks. It wasn't just a little "bark"...it was a mean "bark"....UGH! Anyway, we saw lots and lots of bagpipers. I absolutely love the sound of them. The boys got lots of candy! We saw lots of police departments (and everytime they saw a K9 until, they would mention that it looked like Tacko), lots and lots of firetrucks and so much more. We stayed for 2 1/2 hours and then left and it wasn't over but my parade go-ers were done! :)On Sunday, I left behind the boys for the day. They were busy playing their new Wii game. Mario & Sonic at the Olympics. If you have Wii, I recommend it. The boys love it! Karly had her first cheerleading competition. It was so fun to see her cheer through out the year. She picked it up quick and had such great enthusiasm about it. The girls had practiced a lot on their dance I couldn't wait. Not to mention it brought back a lot of memories from my cheering days. Actually, as I was sitting in the stands looking across the court at all the cheerleaders I realized that this was my first competition that I wasn't cheering. Only cheering that day were girls in Pee-Wee and in Grammar (which is 6-8th grade).....and I must say, these "grammar" squads did awesome and you would have never known they weren't in high school. The level of cheering out here is so much different than what I grew up doing/or around. The pee-wee girls didn't place..but rather it was for experience. The grammar girls competed and St. Anthony's grammar girls won first. So the pee-wee girls LOVED that! Karly did fantastic and made me so proud. She has done this stuff before being in dance but I think she enjoyed taking all the "cheer stuff" in too. She had attitude, she had her steps down, her pretty little smile.....she's not my daughter but she made this Auntie super proud! I can't wait to follow her through her cheering days. And I think my sister learned a lesson...never trust a man to do a women's job! :)

Pumpkin/Apple picking

It seems I have gotten a few days behind in the blog. Maybe that's a good thing as there isn't much to report about. Just normal crazy life stuff that we all have day-to-day.

To start our weekend off I was afraid that we would have a trip to Syracuse for the dentist. Thankfully that wasn't needed. As I was putting Cody to sleep Friday night, he says to me "mom, I think I have a potato chip caught in my appliance"......Ok, but he said he got it. Then he asks me what color are his teeth....."um, white"....so he hands me a little piece of something hard. I look at it and is trying to figure out what exactly is it....so yah, I had to put it between my teeth and bite for a quick second - yah, it's not a chip! It came from behind his top tooth, the one that has the nerve almost showing. It isn't bothering him at all and I have the piece saved so hopefully we keep our normal appointment and we'll see what Dr. Scott has to say about it.

Saturday we had another fun day of soccer. Next Sat. is our last day. After that we had high hopes of going to get our pumpkins but this darn NY weather was not going to allow that. It had misted and was so cool out most of the day. Instead we did other stuff and had dinner at my sister's.

Sunday we got to go to the apple farm. We had a lot of fun. It was still cool but when that sun came out it was nice. The kids picked lots and lots of apples. Went on a hayride, enjoyed the petting zoo, found their "great" pumpkin and had some good treats too!

And I must say I love their shirts. It appears we have the entire team spoken for....Offense/Defense/and of course the little Captain!

Swimming fun..

Over the weekend we headed back to Cuba for a graduation party of Brendan's. Thankful our weather was super nice and we all got to enjoy the pool. We had a nice party and Brendan was very surprised. He is off to college already. At times I think he has been this age forever but on his gift table was a hand print mold. It was so cute as it was little and I was curious how old he was. He was 5ish and in pre-school and it was 1995. OMG, your kidding right cause that was the same year Brett and I started dating. Made me feel very old that he is now old enough to go off to college. We all have these moments, and some have them about me (that I'm old enough to have kids) but wow - this was my moment. It was also very nice that Grandma Luckey could come for the party. She is 96 (I think) and bless her heart doesn't know who you are but we could never forget her. She reminds me so much of my own Grandma, her size, her demeanor, her love for the outside.

All that warm weather gave us a great opportunity to enjoy the pool. It was wonderful. Sunday we all got in and relaxed. All 3 of the boys came even farther out of their shells and did some first. Cody and Dylan both took off their arm floats and were swimming away. I was so shocked and so proud of them. They quickly jumped in and realized they sink right down to the bottom but if they used their feet - up they came. Then finally, I got Tyler to take off his batman ring and just swam with his arm floats. He was amazed he didn't sink. I told him he wouldn't but he needed to build up the courage himself. After all that sun, they all crashed!

Countdown is on to the start of school. Waiting very patiently to get our teacher assignment. (And I'm using the word patient very loosley) :) Next week they have Kinder-Camp for 3 days. Very anxious to see how that will go. I get teared up thinking about it all.

Weekend catchup

It's Tuesday and I am just getting time to catch up and blog about our weekend. Not that anything life shattering happened during the weekend but a couple fun points that are worth remembering. This past weekend was the NASCAR race at the Glen. It's been a family tradition if you will that Brett goes to this race. When they first started going it was with my Dad and brother-in-law. The weekends were strictly a "guy's weekend" and I don't even ask what went on. They just had fun! Over the years the dynamic of the weekend changed but Shaun and Brett continued to go. Leaving my sister and I with the kids to do fun things of our own. This year was slightly different in that we stayed local and didn't do anything major. We did though meet a friend of mine in Syracuse at the MOST. The MOST is the museum of science and technology. Cool things for the kids to do. Then we enjoyed lunch out at a really cool place called Quaker Steak and Lube. They've been on food network and the atmosphere was awesome! We spend the night at the Smith's and that was fun even through the arguing that kids did. For some reason (weather didn't help) they were just at each other's throats. But they are very close cousins and really do fight like siblings.

Came time for race time on Sunday and wouldn't you know the curse of the rain at the Glen struck again. It poured and the race ended up being canceled. Brett called and decided to come home and go back on Monday and take the boys. Only Dylan and Tyler wanted to go, so they did. It was super HOT and humid! The boys enjoyed it but got a little bored. If anything it gave them a great day to be with their Dad.

Tomorrow we go to Syracuse for Cody's yearly team visit and his first orthodontic visit since getting his palate expander put on. As always my stomach is in knots even though I don't think anything will come from it. Just can't help it. I'll be sure to update about our day!

What a Weekend!

We had a busy weekend but lots of fun for sure. Friday night I got to visit my friend Erica for a while why she stopped through town. It's always nice to catch up with friends and like always it's never long enough. Saturday was Karly's 8th birthday. It still seems like yesterday that she was a little baby and now she's 8 and sassy and adorable and ALL GIRL! She had a great party to High School Musical. I have lots of fun pictures from the day but just haven't gotten them on the PC yet. Thankfully the rain held off to just about the end of the party then it let loose. Today was a beautiful blue sky day and we went back up to the Smith's for pool fun. The boys are getting braver in the pool and by the end of the day both Cody and Dylan were swimming with no arm floats and doing great. Not sure if I would let them not wear them in a deeper pool cause if they wanted to touch they could in Tanya's. They both love to jump into the pool and Dylan found out that going in backwards with no arm floats - you sink right to the bottom! He came up just a looking for that breath. Tyler and Connor aren't huge fans of the big pool. The little one is perfect for them especially cause their attention span is so short. We cooked out a hodge podge of things and then Uncle Shaun took the kids for a ride on the 4-wheeler. All that fresh air really knocks a kid out!

Cody is doing really good with his appliance. At times I notice his speech but it's certainly not overly noticeable. I think I am looking for it and I don't think to the normal ear they could hear a change. Keeping it clean has been pretty easy so far with just brushing and with this little water shooter the office gave us. He and I had a big boy chat about what he could eat and when put to the test he hasn't given anybody a fit about not being allowed to have anything gummy. I ended up pushing back his follow up appointment till 8/12 as that is the same day as his team visit. We'll knock out two visits in one day!

We are counting down our days till our vacation in Ocean City. Looking forward to seeing my nephew and getting the boys on the beach.

Teeth, Teeth and Teeth

Today has been a "toothy" day! It all started this morning as the boys were in the kitchen eating for the hundredth time before noon. I guess maybe they were done eating and cleaning themselves up. I wasn't in the room but as I piece the puzzle back together I'm assuming Dylan was chewing on a wash cloth (cause he likes to) and Tyler decided it would be fun to yank it out of his mouth. Except Dylan wasn't giving in - so a tug of war began. Next I know, Dylan came running in the living room his mouth all bloody and Tyler went running up stairs. I try to figure out where the bleeding is coming from when I realize - he lost another tooth! This make #2 for him. I didn't even realize it was loose. Certainly wasn't loose like his first tooth. But it's out and we can't find it. So we have to write the tooth fairy a note explaining and hope he stills leaves the cash behind!
Cody goes to see his orthodontist tomorrow to have xrays and molds taken of his teeth. Then we will sit down and discuss what appliance he will wear and I am guessing get a date as to when it will get put on. Very nervous about tomorrow. So I wanted to take a picture of his mouth pre-ortho! (And if you can tell from the picture - if a tooth looks yellow it's really not. That is where his bottom teeth have worn the enamel off the top teeth. Nice huh?
Our Saturday was pretty un-eventful. We had a nice weather so I dug out their pool and we got out the water balloons and got wet! I realized never to trust an almost 4 year old with a hose - he soaked me! :) Today we had a 1st birthday party to attend. It was at a really nice park and the kids had a lot of fun.

A weekend full of Fun

We had a fun-filled weekend for sure. And nice weather to boot! That doesn't happen often! :) Saturday was a busy day for us (or for me) depends on what way you look at it. The boys had there t-ball family day. Team pictures first and then snacks and bounce house fun. The pictures turned out great. I'm going to become a mom of her first "team picture button"........might have to get creative with those as the years progress. I stuck the two of them together for their "individual" picture as we have had just to many pictures lately and I'm not rich! I'm hoping they turned out. No idea when we will get them - might just have to call on that one.

After I watched them a few times on the bounce house I had to jet as Karly had her 5th dance recital on Saturday. What a great day for these girls - to put all of there hard work together on stage. The costumes are wonderful, great music, hair, make-up - it was days like Saturday that I am thankful I have boys and all I had to do to get them ready was throw a t-shirt and baseball hat on and say "smile"! Karly did fantastic and every time she is on stage I get a little tear in my eye. She got a trophy at the end as she has been dancing for 5 years. As the recital went on - to watch the class of tomorrow girls perform and think back to that same stage 5 years ago when Karly was 3 and all decked out in her pink fluffy outfit and then fast forward to her on stage looking very grown up - WOW! She is getting ready to turn 8 and it doesn't seem possible.

Sunday should of been a day of relaxing but I was itching to re-do my bathroom. I torn down the lady bugs and up went my "beach". I must say I LOVE getting ready at the beach every day. I cleaned that bathroom like no tomorrow. It probably was over do - but I was scrubbing ceiling to floor on my hands and knees. When i was all done, Cody walked in and said "mom, it's a little to girly". He's right - but the men of my house must give me some room. I am out numbered! My kitchen also got a face lift. Brett was in "the mood" and wanted to re-do the cupboards. Fine by me! It looks wonderful and so organized. Wonder how long it will last?

So what's coming up in the life of Luckey's.....more teeball, Cody goes to Syracuse for our start of the dental process, I'm walking in the Relay for Life, my baby is turning 4 (yeah, having a hard time with that), big birthday party at the fire station and then Tyler goes to the ENT for a check up (wondering what will be done as one tube has fallen out)....................and that's just for June! :)

Weekend Catch Up

We spend the Memorial Weekend in Cuba at the in-laws. It wasn't exactly a fantastic trip home but the kids had lots of fun playing outside, seeing the animals, playing with their cousins, etc....and I didn't have to do much house work allowing me to soak up some sun rays and read a magazine.

We did however have some highlights from the weekend. For some Saturday night fun we went with Grandpa to get ice cream and then came back and got out the tee to hit some balls around the yard. Dylan was soaking in every word that Grandpa said. We had told him that Grandpa used to coach Brett and with Grandpa's help they got him hitting off the tee even better. He's now batting left handed and doing really well at it. Keeps his foot planted and can smack it pretty good. Then he showed him how to get "set" in the outfield waiting for the ball. Dylan really enjoyed that special time. Sunday we got the see all the Bradley's (Brett's sister and family) for a cook out and a birthday celebration for Nicole and Daniel. The kids were dying to get into the pool so in they went. It was cold but kids could care less. Dylan picked right up where he left off last summer - swimming like a fish. Cody seemed to move up a notch. He actually ventured away from the sides and experienced the whole pool. Tyler put water wings on so that was also a step up. I can't wait for more swimming days ahead.

So all in all a good weekend. I have some other feelings to post but those will have to wait for another day when my thoughts are more collected.

Check ups, Valentine's and Weekend Trip

I need to play some catch up.

Starting over the weekend. We headed to Maryland to go see my brother. We had a wonderful time. The boys were excellent car riders and nobody cried to get out of their seats. We got in lots of Jack time and I could just eat him up. He is such a good, happy baby and a little chunk. Friday I drove myself to Walmart (all by myself). Pretty proud of myself considering I really don't know my way around there. Then after Kristie got home from work and we ate dinner, we took the boys to Toys-r-us so they could shop and spend some birthday money. They picked out some awesome toys and were in heaven. Saturday, my Valentine boys got me a beautiful Open Heart necklace. I love it! Then We took the boys to CoCo's Funhouse. The place was filled with bounce houses of all shapes and sizes. They had a blast. Then we enjoyed some yummy pizza, I got to go shopping at my favorite country store and we all played some Wii. That was so fun!!! Sunday we headed home. Sad to leave but every good trip comes to an end.

Today Cody and Dylan had their 5 year check ups. A little late due to a cancellation with weather. They are both growing great and healthy. We switched it up this time and only took one in the room at a time. It was nice for me to concentrate on one at a time and I think they did better. So Dylan wanted to go first. Thankfully I don't have alot of health questions for him. He answered his questions and went through the check up motions. Came time for his shots and he was OK with it. He started to tear up at the 3rd one but he held em back. He liked his band aids and out he went. Just to meet Cody in the waiting room to tell him "I didn't get a shot"...and Cody read right through him and said "lift up your shirt and show me your arms".

Dylan weighed: 48 lbs. and is 43 3/4" tall.
Cody weighed: 44 1/2 lbs. and is 42 1/2" tall.

Cody came in the room next. We discussed his thyroid issue, my concern with his hearing and our upcoming palate expander for the spring. Our pediatrician was on the same page as I for it all so that was nice. She looked in his ears but really couldn't see much. He did not get his shots as he has a sinus infection and was put on amoxicillin.

We did hit a bump though. The boys had to do their eye test and that didn't go as expected. They were kind of all over the chart and the doctor feels it would be best for them both to go get a more in depth eye exam done. (this is where it felt like somebody punched me in the stomach). I could not believe it. Dylan's right eye is 20/70 and his left eye is 20/40. While Cody's eyes (both) are 20/50. Talked a little bit with my SIL as she works in an eye doctor office and she said that with those eye sights it wouldn't be out of the question for the doctor to write a script. BUT to get the better test done. So I am really hoping the other test comes back better. We go on March 2nd. I have always hoped and prayed the boys would get Brett's vision and not mine. Time will tell!

Today too, my nephew Connor had surgery. We went and got Karly last night and she spent the night. He did good through his surgery. Had a little hard time waking up from the anestia but after he finally drank something they got to leave the hospital. So happy that this is behind him.

Relaxing Sunday

Well our weather did a complete 180 from yesterday. Yesterday it was almost 60 and warm. Today it was very, very cold and as I type my car is now covered in snow! I knew it had to come sooner or later. We had a very relaxing Sunday. We got to see my brother as they headed back through to MD. Sad when they left as I am not sure when we are seeing them again yet. I'm thinking a trip to MD is in our plans shortly. After they left, we all vegged out. The boys played, I did what I normally don't do and sat on the couch and watched TV. Just didn't have it in me today. I did a little bit when I had to but all in all it was a very relaxing day. Which is soooo nice! But I had to get out the camera and take a picture!!!! I think this is my new favorite!

Random Things

The weekend is coming to a close. While we had nothing "planned" the time still manages to go very quickly. Saturday I decided I needed a hair cut. I am trying to grow my hair out but it is challenging at times. I just got it trimmed to even it out and hope it keeps on growing. I took Cody with me as the other two were outside enjoying the fall weather. After that, we went and did our grocery shopping. Now wouldn't it figure - the one weekend I don't take all 3 of my boys to Walmart - it is the one weekend where SpongeBob and Barbie are at Walmart. Of course Cody didn't care about Barbie (Brett said he would of liked to see her :) - he did give Spongebob a high 5 and got a Ty beanie of Gary. Brett cooked us a nice dinner and then the boys got their own haircuts. We are gearing up for family pictures in a couple of days.

This morning, after a way to early of a start - the boys and I made chocolate chip cookies. There are no more left!!!! Then we did some re-arranging and cleaning. It was wonderful. We are slowly making room for where the Xmas tree will go. Then I got a little "treat". My neighbor took the boys for a couple of hours and I didn't know what to do first. It was like heaven! :) Her boys come over a lot so I am thankful she returned the favor. They had fun.

My brother and his family are coming home tomorrow. I can't wait to see Jack again and have him meet his cousins. I look forward to our few days with them. We are cramming into these days a photo op. All the kids are getting their pictures taken for my mom. She will LOVE it and it should prove interesting with 6 kids - ages 7, 4, 4, 3, 2, 2 weeks. Please pray with me that we get a "very" patient photographer. You will of course see the final outcome when they are done.

Not much planned

Well this is our first weekend of back to being a family for the weekend. Football games are coming to a close. Brett doesn't have any this weekend. It was nice tonight as I got home from work, dinner was all ready. Then I skipped out for a quick trip to Target. I was looking for some black cords for Tyler and the boys got invited to a b-day party next Friday night at Chucky Cheese. So now I need a gift. Tomorrow the boys need haircuts and we will probably need to get groceries. I am sure we will be watching football. A quite weekend that is very much needed. I hope everybody has a great weekend!

What a Weekend and Baby Pictures

Phew.....the weekend is over and I am exhausted. Doing a marathon drive like that takes so much out of you. If you haven't been following....Kevin and Kristie had their little boy on Friday. Her water broke Thursday night so after much thought we all decided to get a little sleep (yah right) and wait to head to MD on Friday AM. We were on the highway by 5:30 am and arrived at the hospital at 11.

Jack is adorable and looks just like his Daddy. Kevin is great with him. It was so neat to see my mom teaching him how to change the diaper. We had a great weekend with them and had to leave this morning to head home. That was super tough. I miss Jack already and can't wait till they come North. I have 3 very anxious little boys that can't wait to hold him.

While I was gone, Brett had "daddy duty" all weekend. My house was in one piece when I arrived home so that was good news. :) He had to turn in 2 football games with me being gone so that kind of sucked but oh well. The only thing that cracked me up is he did the laundry but didn't fold ANY of it. I guess at least it was clean.

Haunted Hayride

Tonight we went to a Haunted Hayride. A chilly night to stand outside for 2 hours but the kids did wonderful and we all had a good time. Tanya and Karly came to - Shaun stayed home with Connor as he is to young and is not into all of this scary stuff. By the time we were done - Tanya knew she made the right choice. Connor would of freaked!

At first you had to go into a barn and hear a story - slamming doors, warewolflf in the mirror - oh yah that was fun. Then we walked through this tunnel where it felt like you were in the twilight zone. As you exited the warewolf scared you to death. Thankful he didn't do it to the kids. We got on our wagon and off we went. Followed the path by lit torches and then we went into the forest. OMG! It was really neat. They had skits set up the entire way. Kids jumped out from the dark, huge spiders hung over head, chain saws started, trees fell and then a guy got on the wagon with his chain saw and pretend to cut. I thought we were really going to loose the kids at that point. We didn't. Then we went past a pirate ship and a pirate princess got on asking for gold. Next we came to the witches and they flew over head. My husband said it was nice that I lent them my stick! :) We all had a great time. A little cold by the end but it was fun.

A better day

Well after my pity party yesterday and into the night when my brain finally decided to just go to sleep....I woke up feeling much better. Still nervous as to what is to come with Cody. After doing some research and talking with others a lot of what Cody does is making light bulbs go off. I think the hardest part is I am in limbo until Tuesday when I can talk with our pediatrician and that is the hardest part for me. So while I can still say "why us, why Cody" I know that we will get through this too. The best part is I know I have lots of friends and family that will be there to cheer us on! And to them (they know who they are) a big ole thank you!!!!! HUGS....

I am so glad it's Friday. I'll get to see my husband tomorrow. :) He's only got one game tomorrow so what do we plan to do tomorrow evening you ask.....why go to another football game! But at least he doesn't have to ref it and we can all watch together. The boys are anxious and it's homecoming with two big rival schools playing so it should be some good high school football. Tomorrow afternoon is the parade and because we are experiencing an Indian Summer right now - I get to get back out my flip flops and the boys will be on a sugar high from all the candy that will get thrown.

Still waiting for my brother to call us and say "it's time". Kristie will be 39 weeks on Tuesday and we are all patiently awaiting the arrival of Jack. Patiently is the key word - is there such a thing when you are anxious for a baby to arrive!?? I text them today and said I was "up for a drive" but........we must wait.

Oh yah....one thing that helped today - Retail Therapy! I got a new purse for winter and I love it! :)

Sunday Best

Why is it that kids have no sense of time on the weekend. Our morning started out early - Cody rose at 7. I manged to keep him quite till 8ish and then I turned on the TV and that got me another hour. It felt so good. Then it was up and at em! The Sunday typical....breakfast, laundry, dishes, pick up toys, get another snack, another load of laundry....phone rings. It's my friend from MA who was in Corning all weekend for a fundraiser and she was going to stop by. Yeah! So I convinced my children to help pick up and I hit the shower. Got to visit with Karin and Andrew for just short of an hour as they had a long drive today. It was sooo nice to see her again. We've become friends through cleftAdvocate, usually have only see each other at the conference in Vegas. So it was so nice to see them. Then we had a christening to go to today. We didn't do the church service as I am NOT that brave with 3 boys. Just went to the house for a nice lunch and the boys got to play. Then it was onto Walmart for grocery shopping. I promised the boys a little "something" for being so good today. So we hit the toy isle. The Xmas list is growing for sure. Tyler found a matchbox yellow firetruck. Firetrucks are his new favorite. Dylan has had his eye on these skateboards. I am unsure as to what you actually do with them. They come with an extra set of wheels and a screwdriver and you can change them. He LOVES it. Cody has his eye on bakugan. I don't understand this just as I don't understand Pokemon. So we get down that isle and there is a section that is wiped clean. Yep, the bakugan section. Apparently this is popular. As we were standing there as Cody was making his decision of only getting "1"....a mother and boy come walking down the isle. Walking down the isle in that we know what we are looking for walk. They slow as they reach us so I figured they were looking for Bakugan. Yep....little boy was so disappointed. The mother told me she had just left Target and they had none. The boy had a Bakugan ball in his hand - just like Cody has and wanted another. Guess the stores sell out of these fast and when shipments come in on Tuesday you need to get to the store. That went into the memory bank for Xmas shopping. So Cody settled on a pokemon stuffed animal. Brett missed out on all of our fun as he had 2 games this AM and then work tonight.

A lazy weekend

We had a pretty lazy/quite weekend. Which is nice and I am so not complaining. After a busy summer - it is nice to have these. Our weather was rainy and yuck so we stayed in. Friday night after everyone went to sleep - Brett and I rented a video. Something we haven't done in a very long time. Kristie had recommend to us "What happens in Vegas" so we got that. I love watching movies that has Vegas in it as at times we can see ourselves standing in front of the same fountains. Very good movie - totally recommend it - perfect "date night" material. Thanks Kristie! Saturday Brett had 2 football games in the rain. He said at one point he had rain just running down his clothes and arms. He was soaked! Got done with that game, got dressed for another one. Then celebrated rule 13......out at the bar with the guys. So the boys and I did our Walmart trip. I cooked up a crock pot meal and then we decorated for fall. The boys have been begging to get out the Halloween decorations and I figured it was close enough to October 1st. Once done they said "Mom the house isn't that scary". This coming from the group of boys who ever since our Haunted House days at Knoebles have hated anything scary! Today I had a "me" day. I went SHOPPING! Shopping is so therapeutic. Either that or I have a problem! My sister would agree with the latter. I refreshed my fall wardrobe. While gone, Brett turned our kitchen into a barber shop and the boys got new do's. He had done hair cuts, baths, and all cleaned up by the time I got home. So hair cuts are good as school pictures are around the corner and Cody goes to the photographer on Wed. for the team. After Brett went to work, the boys played and I watched the Bills game. Can't believe they are 4-0. Wow! So that was our non-exciting weekend! I'll take it! Back to work tomorrow :(

First Sleep Over

Today has been a yucky, rainy day. Guess we are getting some of the rain from TS Hanna. Not much but enough to make you stay inside. Tanya and I met for lunch with the kids and then we came back to the house so they could play. Brett is off to Syracuse for Bill's bachelor party. So it's just me and the boys. We asked Karly to spend the night as she has been asking and I had promised her a sleep over after we got back from Vegas. That was in July so I guess it was over-due. As Tanya got ready to leave she was joking with the boys and asked them why nobody wanted to stay with her. Well Tyler spoke up and said he wanted to go with her. What, my baby wants to stay over? Yes he did. I packed his bag and he was off. Waving as they left. We agreed that if the night got to much for him she would call and I could meet them half way to get him. But so far, so good! Now he's stayed over places before but it's been because we haven't been home. Never has he left volunteering. My older two haven't done that. So he off to have a fun filled night with cousin Connor. Uncle Shaun had em on the 3 wheeler for a ride and both were in seventh heaven.

Well Labor Day I guess is the end of summer around here. School starts on Wednesday and this weekend marks the end of summer. Because if you know NY at all - snow will be flying soon. Today we took the kids to the JC field days. Similar to a carnival but all the booths are sponsored by companies in JC or booster clubs for the school. So it's nice to spend a little money and know it's going for a good cause. And the best part was it wasn't that much as it's really meant to be a nice weekend for families. The kids had fun. They rode a lot of rides, played a couple games. Oh yah, another nice point....the games - everybody wins. So you can't beat that. It's not those cheesy carnival games where you have to spend $25 to get a stupid small stuffed animal. The game they played was at the lacrosse tent and they got to pitch a ball into the goal. Have to say Dylan looked like a natural. Cody, um - took him 3 tries. Tyler got it on his second. But the kids one nice blow up hammers and Smile buddies. Auntie Tanya spoiled them for that game and then the sucker picking game. If you picked a sucker with a black marker at the end you won a book. Dylan won Cowboy Octopus - cute book! They had a lot of the "little kid" rides. Connor found his "higacycle" and didn't want to get off. I think he rode it 4 times. Cody and Dylan loved the big slide. As they all went up the first time, they grabbed their bag and Tanya and I couldn't help but say "sit on the bag"....anyone from back home knows what I am talking about! Then as the little kid rides weren't enough - we had to do a couple big kid rides too. So Karly and Dylan got on the bullet. OMG!!!! They had a blast. Couldn't believe they rode it. As they would come around they were bent over the bar and we couldn't tell if they were having fun or not. They got off and LOVED it! Then the did the texas round-up and Brett went with them....well that was marked as the not so much fun ride. Brett and Karly came off of it pretty white.

Saturday Brett had his first varsity scrimmage. That went well. He is ready for the season to start. He's hoping to have a game Friday night. Saturday night we went to the Smith's for dinner. Then it was home to get signed on to the fantasy league. Sunday we went to my Mom's for a cookout and swimming. Always to much food and a lot of fun.

The boys don't start pre-school until the 8th so we have one more week of normalcy. Karly starts 2nd grade on Wednesday! WOW!
